Sustainable transport modes, travel satisfaction, and emotions: Evidence from car-dependent compact cities

This study investigates how the use of sustainable transport modes relates to travel satisfaction (general evaluation travel) and affect (emotions during in car-dependent compact cities. Thereby, provides evidence on mobility travel-related well-being a context urban form but inadequate provisions for public transport, walking, cycling. A mixed-methods approach was applied comprising quantitative qualitative analyses data from two major cities Greece, i.e., Athens Thessaloniki. Travel are found be highest those who walk commuting, independently time other factors. Conversely, lowest users, largely due very long times also poor services one Results indicate that experience traveling by car, motorcycle within areas greatly depends provision policies. Overall, findings support idea shift pleasant, satisfying, cities, car restrictions should accompanied massive improvements high-quality walking cycling infrastructure, an integrated coordination different modes.
